MALVAN -A place less known.

                                   MALVAN-AN UNEXPLORED BEAUTY

It was one of the adventure trips which we had planned to this beautiful place called MALVAN.
We did not know much about it as there was not much information on it.
Also being college students our pockets were limited to a specific budget.Determined to explore we planned the trip ourselves and it came out to be a great success.

DAYS OF VISIT- 1 NIGHT AND 2 DAYS

PLACES COVERED:

  • Mangalore
  • Malvan

STAY- Sand N Shine Beach Resort                             LOCATION- Talashil Beach

BUDGET OF TRIP (2 people) - 8000 INR

We started our overnight journey from Mangalore Central from NETRAVATI EXP. in sleeper class (700 INR for 2 people) which was a very comfortable journey.Meanwhile just in case if you guys are having a halt in Mangalore then you should visit the PABBAS for  the best ice creams located near the Mangalore KSRTC bus Stand. The train was till KUDAL railway station.

DAY 1

We woke up to a scenic view of Konkan Railway's beauty of tunnels, bridges and rivers. I would really recommend  you to see that.
Later we reached the Kudal Railway station in the morning. We hired an auto rickshaw (30 INR) to the Kudal Bus Stand which is around 1.8KM, alternatively you can take a walk and save that.
The bus ride was a very adventurous ride as it was quite bumpy and escalating because of the road condition. It took us 1 hour 15min to reach Malvan Bus Stand. You can also reserve an autoriskshaw from Kudal Railway station to Malvan in 1000-1200 INR .

Maharashtra is famous for its VADA PAV (10 INR) so we had halted for a small breakfast break and had them and they were YUM!
Finally the beach time was here!!!!! From there we walked till Malvan Beach which was just 1 km approximately from the Bus Stand. MALVAN Beach was a beauty in itself crowded by the sails of the boats evidently visible from the Horizon. These boats were Fishing boats.
Malvan is famous for its ADVENTURE WATER SPORTS
AND IT STARTS!!!

Firstly we approached a guy for scooty rental on the beach. It costed us 300 INR for 1 day. There are a lot of shops which offer scooty rentals and also adventure sport packages. The same guy suggested us to take the ADVENTURE WATERSPORTS then itself as it was morning time and there was less crowd.

ADVENTURE WATER SPORTS (1500 INR)

  • SCUBA DIVING+ PROFESSIONAL DIVING+UNDERWATER PHOTOS n VIDEOS
  • JET SKI RIDE
  • BANANA RIDE
  • BUMPER RIDE
  • SPEED BOAT
  • PARASAILING
On taking up the package, we were taken to the deep waters near the SINDHUDURG FORT. There was a changing room in the boat itself. The divers were very professional. They first trained us for 10-15 minuted till we were comfortable about the SCUBA DIVING.
The underwater was fresh and i could see fishes wriggling beside me. The corals were a very pretty sight.  We did SCUBA DIVING for 15-20 min nearly and then headed for the water sports.
Water sports were as usual a lot of fun as well.

By the time we had finished doing our ADVENTURE WATER SPORTS it was already 14:30 and we were hungry so we found out a very old yet famous restaurant called ATHITHI BAMBOO which is quite famous for its seafood. This place is usually crowded so the waiting time maybe 15-30 minutes.
I had a SURMAI FISH THALI( 200 INR)which was very very delicious. It was one of the best fishes I have ever had and I wouLd definitely recommend everyone to visit this restaurant. Don't worry you vegetarians!! they also have VEG THALIS(100 INR) as well which were dam filling and pocket friendly as well.

After having this splendrous meal we set-off for our Hotel which was at Talashil BEACH and was 28KM away. We had intensionally booked it so far as we wanted for a quiet place. By the time we were about to reach there,The sun was already setting and on the deserted road it seemed like golden rays  had spread everywhere. The view was picturesque. Soon we reached our hotel where we had booked a tent (1000 INR) just opposite to the beach. The attendant was a very kind man.

*TALASHIL BEACH*

*DEVBAUGH BEACH*

As soon as we reached our tent we dropped our luggage and ran to the beautiful Talashil Beach to see the setting sun. To our surprise that beach was full of STARFISHES.(Caution: STARFISH STING IS PAINFUL). Talashil beach is also very beautiful for its SANGAM with the river which flows just behind the sea. Talashil is a peninsula.
By the time we spent and clicked photographs on the beach it had become dark and the sea water had raised so we came back to our tent, changed and had a peaceful and a delicious dinner(100 INR).
The only restraining factor over there is that you get salty water in the taps so be prepared for that.

DAY 2
The next day we woke up to a beautiful sea just 20 metres away form us. The area was quiet. We picked up our scooty and went till the road allowed. Later we parked it and started walking towards the tip of the peninsula. The beach was so beautiful and clean that we could see a lot of starfishes, crabs, fishes and sea shells. Also Beautiful  swept corals laid on the shore.
The SANGAM of the sea and river was serene, as the terror waves mixed into the silent waters of the river. One should actually go and see the wonders of the natural resources present to us.

Later by 11 AM we had our complimentary breakfast and then we check↗ed out to move towards MALVAN Beach again.
We took a ferry ticket which costed us 100 INR to and fro per person to SINDHUDURG FORT. The fort is famous for its mighty walls stood up straight still guarding the fort in between the sea and the handful of the native families who still stay within those Fort walls.

Then we went to several beaches which were located near Malvan. You can skip them if you are tired. At last we went to DEVBAUGH BEACH which was a very beautiful beach. It had hotel stays on it too. The golden sand shimmered as the sun rays leapt on it. It is also a peninsula where river and sea meets. It is a very scenic beach to click photographs and enjoy. There is an option of boating where they show migratory birds, tsunami island and many more packages(1000 INR for 1 hour), but we chose to skip and enjoy the beauty of devbaugh. Our last point was The ROCK BEACH where we witnessed a beautiful SUNSET. It is also famous for many pre-wedding shoots also.

Finally, we gave our scooty back, had some  local food on the way and headed towards the main bus stand. The last bus that leaves to Kudal Railway station is at 7PM.
Our train was at 22:30 MATSYAGANDHA express TO Mangalore and in the morning we reached back.

MALVAN can be a very good weekend gateway. 2 DAYS are sufficient to explore it's grandeur.
I HOPE THIS BLOG WAS INFORMATIVE AND FEEL FREE TO DROP SUGGESTIONS and QUERIES FOR THE SAME.

I have attached a small video of the places we went. Please do watch it.

    1. 9404163204-Shamika Scuba Diving
Else you can go there on the beach itself. They have fixed packages.
Also if you only want to do Scuba diving and for longer durations and deeper depths they charge around 1000-1500 INR.
There is a night Scuba Diving also which is a bit expensive.
